A Follow-up from LynesOnLine.com
Things are happening at LynesOnLine.com:
· A Surgeon’s Tale (AST) is scheduled for publication by Black Rose Writing on October 17, 2024.
o The cover has been completed, and shows Maurice Latinsky, the HIV/AIDS urologic patient longing to escape the hospital and get home.
o Here is a synopsis of AST, the sequel to A Surgeon’s Knot.
· I have begun writing the sequel to these two novels. It is tentatively entitled A Surgeon’s Triumph.
o The year is now 1987, and Jackson Cooper and Patrice Cooper are chief residents at the University Medical Center. Joyously, Patrice is pregnant with the couple’s first child. Unfortunately, in the second trimester, she develops a pregnancy related illness, requiring admission to the intensive care unit. The story revolves around that illness, the concerning effect on the baby, and the completion of Jackson’s chief residency year.
o Stay tuned as this ongoing project develops.
· My involvement in the world of physician burnout and associated suicide continues. Recent events are as follows:
o Stand up for Doctors- a Podcast with Kim Downey
A Healing Connection with Dr. Drew Remignanti and Dr. Bill Lynes
o A Day with the Residents and Dr. Michael Myers
I was honored to be the guest speaker for a day with the third-year psychiatry residents at SUNY University in downstate New York. It was hosted by Dr. Michael Myers, noted physician’s physician and advocate, and the author of Why Physicians die by Suicide and Becoming a Doctor’s Doctor: A Memoir.
