Biography
Who Is William Lynes?
William Lynes, MD (b1953), is a Stanford-trained physician, board-certified urologist, award-winning author, advocate, speaker, and survivor of physician burnout and suicide.
Doctor Lynes is a survivor of two catastrophic medical events, including septic shock with a six-week intensive care unit admission and a snowboarding accident requiring facial surgeries, a tracheostomy, and intensive care unit care. Because of these events, physician burnout, and bipolar affective mood disorder, he began in 1998 a downward spiral into darkness which culminated in three suicide attempts and his retirement from clinical practice in 2003.
William is a born-again, Bible-believing Christian. He is the father of three grown sons and lives with his wife, Patrice, in Temecula, California.
