In Huntsville, Lee W. Hickok, a dysfunctional alcoholic urologist meets a brutal death row murderer, Billie James Sampson (BJS), who suffers from severe kidney stone disease. BJS is on death row for the horrendous murder of a young mother.  Because of kidney stones, surgeries are performed.  In one surgery the patient has a life-changing experience.
